Mission leadership & teams

Scientific planning, payload preparation and operations readiness connect the expedition with the Foundation’s wider program.

Mission Director

Dr Evelyn Park

Evelyn Park is a planetary scientist who has managed multidisciplinary reconnaissance programmes and coordinated instrument teams across flight and ground operations. She directs Avenra's science plan, mission reviews and the allocation of observing time.

Ground Operations Lead

Samuel Adeyemi leads the Houston operations team. His background is in remote-system operations, procedure development and incident review. He coordinates readiness work and the preparation of command procedures.

Field Science Adviser

Dr Naledi Mokoena

Naledi Mokoena is a microbial ecologist specializing in nutrient-limited habitats and contamination control. She develops sampling procedures and reviews the relationship between instrument records, field interpretation and laboratory analysis.

Science Payload Lead

Luis Benitez

Luis Benitez is an optical and acoustic instrumentation engineer. He oversees calibration, deployment interfaces and the record of instrument configurations used by Avenra's observing teams.

Mission Communications Editor

Nora Chen

Nora Chen edits mission reports and public science material. Her work connects technical records with clear explanations for readers, educators and documentary audiences.

Responsibilities

Scientific coordination and on-site command.

The Mission Director coordinates the science plan and reviews. The Houston team prepares procedures and readiness work. These ground responsibilities do not imply continuous real-time contact with the expedition.

Captain Mira Solano retains on-site operational authority. Scientific interpretation is reviewed by the crew and responsible research teams; public editorial material follows scientific and operational release review.
