Avenra: instruments before surface field work

Daylight reconnaissance supports remote observation and field planning for the Avenra expedition.

Begin with reconnaissance

Avenra combines remote instruments with a three-person scientific expedition. Earlier daylight reconnaissance provides an initial view of surface environments before the crew begins field work.

Remote cameras and microphones extend observation to sites the crew has not entered. Their records help the team assess where a field visit could answer a question and where more information is needed first.

Common standards

The expedition is part of the Expedition Science program. Instrument state, source records and interpretation limits follow the same principles used elsewhere in the portfolio. Readiness and environmental responsibility remain part of field planning.

The public mission record

The archive brings together reviewed releases, environmental models and the expedition’s public record. Quiet instrument intervals are selected after review and are not live feeds. Edited releases remain distinct from source records.
