Annual review: programs and stewardship
Research priorities and the responsibilities behind delivery of the work program.
Research portfolio
The work program balances the continuity of Earth and reference observations with expedition science. Teams review whether a campaign answers a defined question and whether its record will remain usable beyond the immediate project.
Earth program priorities concern field validation and observation continuity. Celestial Standards concentrates on instrument comparison and shared references. Expedition work, including Avenra, uses these common methods.
Facilities and records
Maintaining an observing program includes equipment changes, transition records and technical expertise. Infrastructure services are reviewed against scientific requirements. Acceptance of a contracted service and acceptance of a scientific result are separate responsibilities.
Institutional oversight
The council reviews the work program and institutional performance. Scientific review addresses method and evidence. The Director-General is accountable for delivery; teams remain responsible for their decisions and records.
Priorities for the next review cycle
- Improve how field conditions accompany public observations.
- Link publications with the technical information needed to examine them.
- Document instrument and reference changes across long programs.
- Review readiness and environmental responsibility before expedition field work.
This publication covers program stewardship. Financial accounts and numerical performance tables are not included here.
